How often have you gazed at the night sky and greeted by Orion, the Hunter?
Inspired by the actual constellation, each feature of this fused glass artwork has been handcrafted and kiln-formed for your enjoyment—day or night. Each star in the constellation has been selected to represent, as closely as possible, the magnitude (or brightness) of the actual stars in the sky.
When this piece is backlit, the constellation’s outline can be seen. When viewed without the backlighting, you can enjoy Orion as seen in the night sky—great for new and seasoned astronomers.
Each constellation requires 24-36 hours of kiln time and three separate firings. This particular piece is even more special because of the uneven top-edge, a by-product of the art glass manufacturing process. When the sheet of glass is rolled flat by the glass manufacturer, each end of the glass has unique, cookie-dough-like ripples.
